Separating
By Chrissy Robinson
My love,
My shadow.
Wouldn’t we all like to live so carelessly.
Showing ourselves only in the light.
Dancing on a summer’s day
And hiding from the rain.
How bold you seem in the blazing afternoon
When I jump, you jump.
Yet somehow I am in the air
While you stay on the ground.
And oh how you blend
So perfectly into darkness.
For when I look for you there
You are no-where
And I fall.
My shadow,
My love.
To have you is a trap.
Even the darkest shadows are invisible
When I am blinded by the sun.
