Hold the Phone
By David Ryu
All I can do is just wait it out
Thinking of the girl always on my mind
Reaching the end of my rope
I sit it out, next to the phone
Met her at the mall
Bumped into her accidentally
Our eyes had met, and it just seemed to click
Gotten her digits, and gave her my own
So I sit, anticipating the call
Waiting, waiting, waiting
The phone erupts triumphantly
The caller ID, showing only Advertisement
The pain in my heart grows
I slump into the chair defeated
Crying my heart out
While I think of a new solution
I decide to rise from the chair
Rising like a phoenix from its ashes
Going to give it a second chance
It’s a crazy little thing called love
