By Frank Joussen
I take the steps
but I don´t care
they´re only right
when you are there
well, as it is
it´s emptiness
whirled round the room
by sweating hands
and shuffling feet
I only see
your smiling face
before me
my partner moves
but the rhythm
is elsewhere
the dancing teacher
frowns and stares
straight at me
when you are there
we are the perfect pair
a dance begins
it´s rumba time
the dance of love
but she´s not mine
I´m practicing
just practicing
to show you soon
what we have learnt
and how it´s done
I only see
your glowing eyes
before me
the music plays
but the lyrics
don´t seem true
I´d never thought
those love songs
could have meaning
just come again
I´ll show you
that they do.
