Annie
By Frank Grigonis
The name like lightning in the daytime
over a grove of white roses blushing
when she smiles
natural, yet supernatural
as a hand-shaped cloud, one finger
brushing the cheek of the moon
supernatural, yet natural
as autumn's last breeze blowing kisses
over the lake of childhood
while the leaning trees dream
of her eyes
natural, yet supernatural
when she breathes near
there's a perfect summer night
wrapping our wounded world
in a blanket
full of stars
