To Love Here Alone
By Stacy Maddox

This heart was never
Made of cold stone
It was not meant
To love here alone

I've waited for Fate's declaration
For way too long
And she's taken no pity
On my Life's song

No lights shine down
On a path to the stars
When all that remains
Are wounds and scars

My mind keeps finding
Images of a past
Pictures with no meaning
Or hope to last

Memories cloud my vision
With pain and lies
And forgotten dreams
That fade away and die

My spirit can't fly
On these broken wings
When never given a chance
That real emotion brings

I stood at Truth's edge
And even held some part
Of it in my hands
From the very start

I cherished every moment
And engraved it in gold
Because a runaway soul
Is so hard to hold.
