Dream
By Ethan Zhao

I dreamt a dream last night;

that I sat in solitude on a distant shore, at noon.

I remember the rolling tides,

as they guarded the stories and tales

of centuries-old galleons.

my isolation lengthened and deepened,

like the dimensions of the ocean,

and I thought,

what if it was possible

to bring this dream to you?

it was then I soared,

along with the orange sky,

as we both raced away from our fates.

there we went,

myself and the world,

laughing in the atmosphere,

beside the coastline of

burnished gold and fine silver.

you see,

we were surrounded,

not only by the mountains and the vast sea,

but the immense horizon, encompassing my world.

purple dusk swept the skies,

I was only fixated upon

the majestic sea, glowing with the hues of

the rainbow,

and as I closed my eyes, I thought,

what if you had loved me?

then we'd be here together.

When I met you, I forgot what language I spoke. then, slowly, you helped me remember.
