While You Sleep
By R. Christophe Ryber
The night is dark, the moon asleep
In solitude I sit and keep
A silent vigil o'er your form
A light caress on limbs so warm
Stirs you in your deepest dreams
I long for you, I could write reams
of sentimental pretty words
of lovely ghosts and talking birds
But Poe already wrote those lines
and language sometimes but confines
the feelings that I must express
For e'en now my love no less
than e'er before burns in my chest
And of all God's creatures I love you best.
