Companion
By Divya Subramanian
The game began
The day we met.
Your heart was a puzzle,
So intricate, so soft.
I read a sign
That could not be seen.
And knew at first sight
You were perfect for me.
Life was a dream
With you by my side.
Nothing seem complicated,
Everything would be alright.
You were in my mind,
As I arose each day.
You were in my smile,
As I fell asleep each night.
I felt the love change,
As days flew by.
I uncovered your secrets,
And you, my quirks.
The rush is gone,
But the joy remains.
I have the same smile,
When I see your name.
Friends or lovers,
To me it’s the same.
I just want to be the one,
You think of everyday.
A companion irreplaceable,
With whom your trust will stay.
